Frequently Asked Questions

Measurements should be taken with a soft fabric measuring tape.

Full Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your bust.

Waste: Measure around the smallest part of your waste.

Length of bodice: This is the length of the top part of the dress. Using your fingers follow your collar bone to where it meets the top of your shoulder, you will feel a small hallow between the muscle and your collar bone, this if your first point. Place the end of your measuring tape in that spot. measure down to where you want the top of the dress (bodice) to end and the skirt to start. This is typically about 13-17 inches.

Length of skirt:  Measure from where the bodice of the dress ends, to the end of the length of the skirt. It can help to have someone else take this measurement on you for best accuracy.

Amount of ease: This is the amount of fabric around you, measured at the full bust. Ease is necessary so we can comfortably move in our clothing. Standard ease is 2″, slightly over sized is 3″, true oversized is 4″ of ease. You can get an idea of how this would fit by measuring yourself and adding 2″, 3″, 0r 4″ in the measuring tape. Alternatively measure the width of your favorite dress or shirt multiply by 2 to get the circumference and minus your full bust measurement.

Wool should be spot cleaned or occasionally hand washed with with soaps specifically for Wool. Unicorn Clean is a great option. Wool is antimicrobial, you will find it does not need to be washed as often as other fabrics. I have had baby spit up on a wool sweater, spot cleaned with water only, and the next morning there was no smell or sign it had ever been soiled. It it truly an incredible fiber!

All other fabrics are pre- washed with unscented clean detergent and dried high before sewing. Meaning you don’t need to worry about your garment going through the wash in the future. I recommend washing all hand made garments to be washed in a mesh garment bag in a load with like colors and hung to dry to protect your garment as much as passible.
